By Bus: If you arrive in Budapest by bus, you might get off at Népliget bus station or at Kelenföld bus station. From Népliget, you can either take metro M3 (Újpest-központ direction), which takes around 20 minutes or trolleybus 83 (Fővám tér direction), which takes around 30 minutes. From Kelenföld, you can take metro M4 (Keleti pályaudvar direction), which takes around 12 minutes.

By Train: There are three train stations in Budapest which you can potentially arrive at. The directions from each of them are as follows:

  • Keleti Pályaudvar: You can take metro M4 (Kelenföld vasútállomás direction), which takes around 10 minutes.
  • Nyugati Pályaudvar: You can take metro M3 (Kőbánya-Kispest direction), which takes around 18 minutes or bus number 9 (Kőbánya alsó vasútállomás direction), which takes around 20 minutes.
  • Déli Pályaudvar: You can take tram 56 (Krisztina körút direction) and get off at Szent Gellért tér and then take metro M4 (Keleti pályaudvar direction). Alternatively, you can take a short walk to Szent Gellért tér and take metro M4 from there.

From the Airport: One option is to take the airport express bus 100E, which is very frequent (every 10 minutes or so). It can be found very close to the exit of the airport. You do not have to buy a ticket beforehand for the bus, you can directly scan your credit card when getting on. The ticket costs 2200 forints (~ € 5.5). The journey takes around 40 minutes to the city center. You can find more information about the bus here:

The other option is to take a taxi. However, beware of taxis that have “Freelancer Taxi” written on their front doors; it is known that they overcharge their customers. The best option for a taxi is to order from the booth that is right next to the exit. It costs 10,000 - 12,000 forints (~ € 25-30) to the city center.
